How often do you get good news -- make that REALLY good news -- from a government agency?
Well, Plainfielders did today.
This morning's Ledger carried a report that New Jersey Transit -- operator of the state's megasystem of commuter trains, buses, and light rail -- adopted both a capital and an operating budget.
The capital budget is good news for Plainfield, since NJT is not finished with the repairs to and refurbishment of Plainfield's 13 rail crossings -- the largest number in one community on the entire Raritan Valley Line (see my post about the work under way here).
Projects on Madison Avenue (southbound) and Liberty Street (northbound) are currently under way and will be worked in a staggering pattern until both jobs are completed in the Spring of 2009.
The news does include, however, word that fare increases have been necessary.
You though maybe there'd be a free lunch?
