Was the Administration of Mayor Robinson-Briggs stung by the coverage the Courier gave to North Plainfield's July 4th Parade? Or was it just getting the news out in its usual fashion?
Today's Courier had the following brief item on just what transpired on July 4 in Plainfield --
City celebrates Fourth of JulyJust so you should know.
Despite overcast skies and cool temperatures, city residents' spirits soared as they came out to enjoy the city's Fourth of July celebrations.
Many Plainfield and Union County officials took part in the parade that wound its way along Front Street. Some of these officials included Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs, members of the Plainfield City Council, the Union County freeholders, Assemblyman Jerry Green, Assemblywoman Linda Stender and Irvington Mayor Wayne Smith.
Also participating in the parade were bands from Plainfield High School and bands from as far away as Shaw High School in Washington, D.C. The parade also featured steppers groups, auto body shops, community organizations, firefighters, police officers, fraternity groups and government groups.
Later, residents gathered at Cedarbrook Park for the annual Concert in the Park, which continued through the rain.
It was kind of the Courier to publish the item. Perhaps too kind.
When will this Administration -- with its deep-bench communications staff -- ever figure out that getting the word out IN ADVANCE is sooooooooo much better at enhancing attendance than a report of what one may have missed?
File this under 'Dept. of Beating Dead Horses'.
And here's Plainfield Today's coverage of July 4th and its events --
