The Ledger blog posted a breaking story this evening that the Feds plan to announce 'a major development' in the matter of Sharpe James, who has been under investigation by a grand jury for months over land deals and personal expenses while Mayor of Newark.
Whatever the outcome, it is a sad day for a man and a city.
I was moved Tuesday evening by his comments in the documentary on the 1967 disturbances that was broadcast on PBS.
Sad that he may end up like Hugh Addonizio, the man he saw as an obstacle to Newark's progress, who had himself run in 1962 as a reform candidate against the corrupt machine of mayor Leo Carlin.
