You may have noticed the full-page legal notice in Wednesday's Ledger for Plainfield's new stormwater control ordinance, which will be up for a final vote at the Council meeting August 22nd. If not already nominated, I would like to suggest that it be included in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
While looking for the fee, which always appears in the lower right hand corner, I couldn't spot it and thought it must have been omitted accidentally.
Turns out it wasn't. There was an ADDITIONAL half-page of legalese, on which the total was clearly printed: $3753.00
This truly was your tax dollars hard at work, because the City is enacting an omnibus ordinance to bring us up to snuff with the State's stricter concerns over stormwater runoff and ensuring that pollutants do not get into the system.
The loooong ordinance (MC 2007-05) is available for your perusal at the office of Municipal Clerk Laddie Wyatt on the first floor of City Hall.
