Hidden Plainfield: Razing the Roof

Razing the roof, literally.

I happened on this Hidden Plainfield scene quite by accident about three years ago.

The roof was literally being razed -- or more correctly, lifted off in huge sections as part of a complete dismantling of this house, which was 'recycled' in the process of its replacement.

Do you know where this home is? Can you guess why it might figure in upcoming Plainfield events?

Answer tomorrow.

Dan,
Think this was the house on Rahway Rd. across from where John & Nancy Rogers used to live. Thought it was torn down but then it was back again. Always wondered what happened.

I had to look twice at that picture. What an ingenious way to take down a house without creating a mess. It is at 1001 Rahway Rd.- another house from my old paper route.

The Rausch's lived there for many years. I was told he had patented the jagged metal cutting edge that is attached to boxes for aluminum foil and plastic wrap. Before him, one had to use a foil cutter, a pair of scissors, or the edge of the kitchen table. He and his wife were always very kind and never complained about us neighborhood kids playing on their 12 acre estate.
