Roselle Park's Good Samaritan Montoya gets justice - of sorts

Monica Montoya (pink blouse) assists accident victim.

Monica Montoya, the Good Samaritan of Roselle Park, got good news yesterday -- Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow dropped all charges against her in the arrest by Roselle Park cops after she helped an accident victim and tried to leave to pick up her child from school.

Does being Prosecutor mean having to never say you're sorry? Seems so.

That's the conclusion Ledger columnist Bob Braun draws in today's piece.

Those of us who have followed the case and seen the video (links below) have wondered why it took so long -- on the face of it, the Roselle Park cops seem to have gone quite overboard.

Should we be drawing parallels between Montoya's treatment at the hands of the justice system and that of the Jena 6?

The difference here is that she did absolutely nothing to deserve getting entangled with the cops and the Prosecutor.

And yet, given all this, she says she will cooperate in the Prosecutor's investigation into the Roselle Park police division's handling of the matter.

Jersey justice.
