Plainfield's King's Daughters Day School is the site of Sunday's international cuisine tasting event, "Men Can Cook for Kids."
Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers and just plain friends of Plainfield's oldest preschool -- all of them men -- have come together to offer a truly sumptuous international taste treat.
The school's executive director, Valeria Erdosi-Mehaffey, and development director, Gina Sideris, shared the menu with me earlier this week.
Attendees will be able to sample from FOUR exciting menus --
- Soul Soothing
Pulled Pork BBQ, Fire-grilled Beef, Collards, Macaroni & Cheese, Cornbread, Sweet Potato Pie
- Caribbean Cravings
Jerk Chicken, Oxtails, Red Beans, Cole Slaw, Ice Cream and Waffles
- Sabor Latino
Isabela Seafood Delight Soup, Cabrito en Fricase (Goat Stew), Paella, Arroz con Pillo, Chicken Enchilada
- Global Gastronomy
Proceeds from the event benefit the School's charitable mission of care and education programs for young children. Tickets ($45/adult, $25/kids) are available at the door.Cajun Shrimp, Hot Wings, Bok Choy with Duck, Inside-out Ravioli, Risotto, Roasted Veggie Roll-ups, Spaetzle, Pasta and Gelatin Salads, Assorted Pies and Chocolate Pretzels
