Library grounds cleanup this morning; Latino fiesta today and tomorrow

Food is a popular element of the two-day Fiesta.

Councilor Rebecca Williams is organizing a volunteer cleanup of the Plainfield Public Library grounds, getting under way this morning at 9:30 AM (see her blog post here).

Dress for a chilly day with a long-sleeved shirt and come on out. Gloves, rakes, bags and water will be provided.

Plainfield Today readers will also want to check out the two-day Fiesta in celebration of Central American (and Mexican) independence sponsored by Los Faraones night club. This event, which is quickly becoming Plainfield's premier audience draw -- with thousands of attendees -- will be held in the parking lot between the Green Brook and the Front Street stores.

The Fiesta features live music, a beer garden, carnival rides for kids and adults and a host of food, clothing, toy and tchotchke vendors. It runs from 2 - 10 PM today and tomorrow.

See you there!

I know it's completely off the subject...but on West 8th street they still haven't picked up the storm debris everyone has put out...This is a week after the "last pickup" and the entire street had it out immediately when it was announced...

Thanks for keeping us informed, Dan. I take it is on your own initiative. I am amazed at how much doesn't get placed in the Courier-News. They are only a phone call away.
