The detour sign at 7th & Liberty suffered an assault by vehicle.
Plainfield has more NJT overpasses than any other community on the Raritan Valley Line, and NJT made a significant investment in repairing, restoring and upgrading the crossing throughout the entire city over the past few years.
The final pieces in the jigsaw puzzle were the Madison Avenue, Central Avenue, New Street and Liberty Street overpasses, which were completed this past spring.
All that is apparently needed is to finish removing the 'detour' signs that guided drivers. No one pays any attention any longer, since the projects are finished, but perhaps some visitor would be led astray.
As in this sign that took at least one hark knock at West Seventh and Liberty Streets.
Time to clean up the loose ends.

I am sure the Mayor and his assistant had already notified the responsible parties well in advance of your post as it's obvious they take a keen interest in the looks and well being of the city. But I am sure they appreciate your gentle reminder for them to make that 2nd or 3rd phone call to NJTransit reminding them to complete the job and remove the signs.
There is even one in North Plainfield, Sycamore Ave still standing.
