duCret honors Swains, celebrates 85th Anniversary tonight

The first of three events celebrating Plainfield's duCret School of Art's 85th anniversary takes place this evening at a cocktail reception and art auction where the conbtributions and dedication of the Swain family to the arts will be recognized.

Founded in 1926, duCret is an independent private school offering courses in the fine arts and commercial art at its Central Avenue campus.

Swain Galleries, currently under the leadership of Ann Swain, has served as a center for fine arts and collectibles in Plainfield for well over a century and is a partner and collaborator with duCret, annually hosting shows of student and faculty art.

Bernice Swain has been a member of the duCret School board for many years. Both will be honored at tonight's event.

The cocktail reception and benefit auction will be held at the Suburban Golf Club in Union this evening. For more information, call duCret at (908) 757-7171.
