Scamster seeks to help you avoid 'forclosure'

Good news for Plainfielders facing 'forclosure'!

There are folks out there willing to 'help' you.

Mainly by helping themselves.

These are the kind of scamsters you read about getting little old ladies to sign over their houses and then be put out on the street. Ditto folks with mortgage problems.

As my mom used to say, 'Never eat at a place called 'Mom's', and never deal with folks using phone pole signs to help you avoid 'forclosure'.

'Forwarned' is 'forarmed'.

I wonder how much they paid for the permits to litter the city with those signs? In a financially cash strapped city having someone post signs illegally and leaving them there .. WITH THEIR CONTACT INFORMATION...might be a great way to generate money.
- I know, I know... I come from the fantasy world called common sense..it's much easier to fine homeowners with uneven sidewalks in the better neighborhoods than go after the pockets of some fly by night scam business...

There will be a propsal by citizens to do away with all signs - political, advertising, etc. Signs permitted would be Real Estate For Sale Signs and that is about all. If signs for Estate Sales - garage sales are granted then:

1 - you need to make sure you have a permite because
2 - if the signs are not removed within 24 hours, the owner will be fined, and double fined if no permit was pulled.

The langauge to be presented to the council/administration is in the works. Stay tuned.

Rob, I agree with you. The city also needs to go after the concert promoters who hire agents to litter our traffic signal boxes. All they leave now is a phone number to buy tickets. The city should use reverse directory to get the needed information and issue summonses.

The PD should contact these people and put the scam on them. Once they schedule a face to face meeting, issue them a summons. There's got to be some ordinance they are in violation of. If you need a permit to have a garage sale and post a sign, and you need council approval to hang a banner across the roadway, there has to be something on the books to cite them with.

I've always thought they could fine the people with these signs. BUT Instead they penalize store owners for using bright signs. Go Figure.

Permits?? What permits? The interesting question is who is the mad slasher/ hole maker?? The one who goes around and slashes the signs once they are up to make them useless. They have also cut holes in them to remove the phone numbers. An interesting twist.
