Plainfield's primary election season kicks into high gear today with the NAACP's candidate forum this afternoon.
Though candidates usually launch their campaigns and begin fundraising efforts early in May, the public begins to take note with the forums, which take place two weeks or so before the actual primary election.
In the Wards 2/3 at-large race, Jim Pivnichny is uncontested in the Republican primary, while on the Democratic side there are three vying for the party's nomination: incumbent Rashid Burney, New Democrat Rebecca Williams and former councilor Don Davis.
Democratic incumbent Bill Reid is uncontested in the Ward 1 race.

It was very rude of the mayor to get up and leave the forum when Rebecca Williams was giving her closing statement. Very rude to see the mayor standing in the back hugging and saying goodbye to attendees when she could have waited a few minutes. Very tacky and rude.
