Plainfield Library photo contest opening and reception today

A montage of photographs showing 'Plainfield Celebrates'

Today marks the opening and awards ceremony for the Plainfield Public Librry's 8th Annual Photography contest. The exhibit opens at Noon in the Anne Louise Davis Gallery.

This year's theme is 'Plainfield Celebrates', and the city's wide variety of cultural, recreational and seasonal celebrations really got local photography enthusiasts' juices flowing.

The exhibit opens with an awards ceremony for outstanding entries. A reception follows. The exhibit will hang in the Anne Louise Dais Gallery space through December 31.

The annual contest is open to amateur and professional photographers and is designed to continually augment the Library's photographic record of Plainfield life. The Library's extensive photography collection includes materials dating back to Civil War days.

The Plainfield Public Library is at Park Avenue and West 8th Street. Parking is available on site. The Library is handicap-accessible.
