49th Art Festival today

Scenes from the days when the Art Show was thronged
with fine artists.

Plainfield celebrates the 49th Annual Outdoor Festival of Art today at Library Park, 10 AM - 4 PM.

Mayor Robinson-Briggs promises
fine arts, crafts, musical performances, vendors, children’s art, children’s entertainment, and a children's art table.

Though a mere shadow of itself in its heyday, when artists and attendees from the tri-state area were found thronging the show, we should be thankful that the City has stuck to it when the baton was passed and continues to try and mount the show.

One can only recall Dr. Johnson's observation about a dog walking on its hind legs, 'it is not done well, but you are surprised to find it done at all'.

Kids have a good time, no matter what.

I just got back from the "Arts Festival". The mayor once again has failed to deliver anything but a failed attempt. It's now 1:45 and there were more vendors than people attending. You could fit everything in less than 25% of the Library Park. I rode past on my bike at 10:30 and didn't even notice anything was going on. Pitiful is the word that comes to mind. Only an idiot would pick the Labor Day weekend for such an event and vendors need six months or more to plan. This last minute event was bound to fail. Our mayor is good at last minute planning, and is that what we want in our leader?

THANK YOU SHARON FOR MAKING ONE OF PLAINFIELD'S PREMIER EVENTS AND MAKING IT SUBSTANDARD. Having attended these events since the early 80s, I can't express the derision I have for the people who planned this event and have ruined it over the past seven years.
