Hidden Plainfield: January 2 home ID

Crystal Court, East Front Street at foot of Farragut Road.

Yesterday's Hidden Plainfield featured some construction shots from a few years back.

The development is known as Crystal Court and is on East Front Street at the foot of Farragut Road, across from Barlow School.

Completed in 2002-03, it was one of a handful of housing construction projects that was able to completely take advantage of the housing boom -- being built and sold out well before the bust of 2008. The guess that it was the Rose of Sharon project on West 7th is completely reasonable, another -- though slightly earlier -- project set endwise toward the road.

Projects on the books as of the beginning of 2011 are in keeping with the new emphasis on transit-oriented development (TOD) and are all within a short walk of the main train station. There is also a proposal for South Avenue, near Netherwood Station, but that is not as far along as the downtown Cretella projects.

Where shall we go next week?
