Word from Plainfield schools situation watchers tipped me that Fox 5's Arnold Diaz was taping at the BOE's Myrtle Avenue headquarters this morning.
Diaz, renowned for his investigative reporting, began covering the situation with Plainfield schools superintendent Steve Gallon III several weeks ago, when he surprised Gallon as he was leaving a BOE meeting.
The NJ forums have been abuzz ever since with rumors and wonderings about when or whether a piece would be aired on Fox 5.
Here's what I was able to learn from the camera person --
WHEN WILL THE 'SHAME' PIECE AIR?
The footage shot in front of the BOE headquarters at 1200 Myrtle Avenue this morning is what is called a 'wrap' and is the final portion of the filming for the "Shame" segment, which I was told will PROBABLY air next Wednesday, February 10. In any event, there will be plenty of 'teaser' copy over the station in advance, so regular watchers will not be caught off guard. Should you become a 'regular watcher' if you want to see the segment? Hey, what do you think it's all about?WHY HAS IT TAKEN SO LONG?
The story has grown beyond its original scope, thanks to the revelations about staffers registering their children in the South Plainfield public schools while not living in that school district. That has engendered extra footage, and I was told that Diaz and the camera person had been to South Plainfield ALREADY THIS MORNING, to film footage to be included in the final report. Word of this will probably make its way to the NJ forums, where some have begun posting about the situation on the South Plainfield forum site. It may become difficult -- if not impossible -- for South Plainfield schools Superintendent Negron to avoid making any public comment on the situation as a result of the Diaz piece when it airs.HOW CAN FOLKS WATCH?
The Diaz 'Shame' piece will air live on Fox 5, and will then be archived on the station's website, where it will be available for viewing for six months following the airing (see here).Diaz, who has won 36 Emmy awards, began his career at WCBS and subsequently moved to ABC, where he worked on the famed 20/20 show. His bio on the Fox website notes that since coming to Fox in 2006 --
...[h]e continues his longstanding investigative career with his infamous "Shame, Shame, Shame" pieces. His reports regularly expose wrongdoing and incompetence by private industry and government agencies, and often lead to actions by law enforcement officials, as well as the enactment of legislation. His reports have been cited by numerous prosecutors as being instrumental in obtaining jail time for several scam artists.Stay tuned.

Sorry . . . I can't bring myself to watch FOX News in its entirety just to see the Plainfield School segment. But . . . I will watch it online where I can fast forward. Thanks Dan!
By the way . . . do you think Diaz will return and do a Shame Shame Shame Mayor of Plainfield!??? Hmmm . . . probably not -he doesn't do comedy or should I say tragedy.
Dan,
Diaz didn't suprise Gallon after a BOE meeting for the first time. It was the second time. The first time he surprised Gallon was in the parking lot of the administration building. He not only got Gallon, but he got LK and LB too.
And yes, the forums are buzzing but what I have heard from the PRODUCER is that we do not have a definitative date...so we can't be positive it will be on Wednesday. I promise to let you know when she tells me.
I notified them in the first place, so she has kept in contact with me all along.
Thanks for the quick reporting.
Laura
Laura -- Thanks for the clarification. I realize the camera person doesn't know what the producer knows, but seemed quite aware Plainfield folks are anxious to know what's up.
Thought it of interest the South Plainfield angle was confirmed.
Dan,
I interviewed with Arnold, so believe me when I tell you this, the South Plainfield aspect isn't going to be the only surprise!
Laura
Surprise on!!!
Please, please let us know when the airing is firm. I'm not about to sit around watching that channel just to catch this piece.
Thanks, Laura!
So I'm wondering....if in fact all this is true..which enough of it is...can't we get out of our contract w/Gallon on the grounds of...theft by deception..conduct unbecoming...violation of the public trust...fraud...damn...someone help me with the legaleeeze....and how about kicking him to the curb! I am sick of these carpet baggers coming in and getting rich off of our tax dollars. And as far as the Bd. of Ed. is concerned I applaud Wilma Campbell for her integrity to go against the majority and be the one vote to question what the hell is going on..don't any of the other Bd. members have a brain/conscience..shame on you, you are residents and this is the best you can do?
What do you expect from a town that is bent on being second class?
Why are you all so eager to see what Faux News is going to say about Plainfield when you all obviously don't care for Faux News? Do you think that just because it's about Plainfield that it will be Real News? Or are you so jaded by reading these Nat'l Enquirer style blogs that you will buy anything?
Dan,
Just spoke to the producer, Shame on You will be airing on Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. I'll keep you posted if anything changes.
Laura
Well, Well, Well!
Politics as usual!!!
Stating the fact that all three of these people really should get fired, I have a more important question concerning the problems.....
Who checked their back round, approved of them, and then hired them?
The board?
Fire them!
Clean out the reason they are in Plainfield.. You have to find the problem, then GET RID of the problem. No body these days tries to FIX the problem.
Too much to fix.
Just get rid of the problem....
Get a new board.
This one is terribly tied and corrupt!
Just like a very bad Root kit in a computer. You have to f-disk the whole drive. and then Reinstall.
So, f-disk the board, and reinstall!
That's it! It's simple people!
Over and out.
