Hidden Plainfield: 'Toni Twins' property IDs

The buildings are 'semi-prominent' as they are only attention getting
when going eastbound on 7th Street.

Yesterday's Hidden Plainfield 'Toni Twins' apartment buildings are indeed at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and East 7th Street as readers Jeff and Michael spotted.

Building 'A' (top) is in original condition; 'B' (bottom) has been vinyl-cladded.

Historic preservation seems to have overlooked apartment buildings in the Queen City, whether because of an attitude of preservationists or of absentee landlords' lack of interest is not known.

I was personally amazed at putting vinyl over stucco (I guess I have become inured of vinyl over perfectly good clapboard).

If the bastardization was halted due to the current economic conditions, it would be a rare silver lining to the cloud of our current troubles.

Where shall we go next week?

While the updated twin building looks nice and new...I am sad that they didn't keep the Tudor style of the original. The original look had character/charm.
