The Plainfield Democratic City Committee's sole 2008 General Election mailer arrived on Saturday, and I was stunned to see it could be construed as urging Plainfielders to commit vote fraud.
What, you say?!
If you compare the candidates on the mailer above with the candidates on the sample ballot mailed out by Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi below, you will find an extra name.
The official sample ballot for Ward 3. Ward 1 would show Reid instead of Mapp.

Annette who?
Annette Quijano is running for the balance of the term of Assemblyman Neil Cohen, who resigned in disgrace after child pornography was found on his office computer.
And Plainfielders cannot vote for her, since she is in a different district.
Perhaps Jerry should hire Mayor Robinson-Briggs' intrepid budget proofreading department heads from City Hall to check these mailers out before printing them up.
The message side of the mailer has a 'letter' from Jerry making the case for the Obama slate, which you should read (but do turn off your grammar-checker first).
Meanwhile, the ballot itself has a public question which I'm damned if I can understand -- even with the interpretive statement, which is twice as long as the question. The Ledger ran a story today on that (see "Poll finds voter confusion about wording of NJ ballot question").
Lastly, an unusual Obama sign -- from an AFL-CIO member -- spotted on Myrtle Avenue.
Vote early tomorrow. Vote only once (this is NOT Bergen County).
And watch the returns come in when the polls close. It will be a different America when it's all over.

There is nothing illegal about a mistake or at worst, pandering to Latino voters. Much as you hate Jerry Green, this could not be construed as encouraging the illegal act of voter fraud in any way.
