Council reorg, 'State of the City' address

Ward 1 Councilor Diane Toliver is sworn in by
Assemblyman Jerry Green.

Pretty peaceful as Plainfield city government reorganized Monday evening.

Councilors Rebecca Williams (2/3), Diane Toliver (1) and Gloria Taylor (3) were sworn in and seated.

Ward 4 Councilor Bridget Rivers was unanimously elected Council President for 2015, her third year in that office.

The surprise of the evening was the unanimous election of Councilor Tracey Brown (citywide at-large) as chairperson of the committee of the whole. In that role, Brown will conduct most of the business during the agenda-setting meetings. It should be a refreshing change from recent years -- a hint of which was given in the manner in which she went through the resolutions last night. (Brava!)

Mayor Adrian O. Mapp gave his second 'State of the City' address, which you can catch via David's video (see here) or read online (see here).

Thanks for posting the link to the video. I believe the Mayor is taking the city in the right direction and progress is being made. I’ve always believed that under the right leadership Plainfield can be a city that we can all be proud to call home.
