Plainfield's 5th annual 'Fiesta de Independencia de E.U.' gets under way today through Sunday in Lots 8 and 8A between Somerset Street and Watchung Avenue. It runs from 11 AM to 11 PM.
The festival, begun by Faraon's nightclub owner Edison Garcia in 2009, was the first major Latino event to draw tens of thousands of visitors to the Queen City.
Family friendly, the event's offers carnival rides and midway games as well as vendors with Mexican and Central American food specialties. Music is offered throughout the day and evening from a sound stage set up in a sequestered beer garden area.
Admission is free.
