Plainfield will observe 2017's Veteran's Day with a ceremony at City Hall Saturday, November 11.
Participants will join Mayor Adrian O. Mapp, members of Plainfield veterans' organizations and city officials in the 99th annual celebration.
Veterans Day began as the celebration of the Armistice ending World War I. That armistice took effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, and has been observed at the same time ever since.
Gathering time is 10:30 AM at the City Hall Plaza. The ceremony will take place at the War Memorial.
City Hall is at Watchung Avenue and East 6th Street. There is ample parking in the lot at the rear of the building.
