From the Mayor's 'welcome' on the city website. |
How about p roof positive Mayor Sharon is an alien visiting from another planet?
Check out Mayor Robinson-Briggs' 'welcome letter' on the home page of the city's schizoid TWO websites (.gov here, and .com here), where you will be enlightened by learning that Plainfield is 'a 35 minute commute by railroad' from New York City, at least on the planet where she lives.
I hope one of Plainfield Today's helpful readers will alert New Jersey Transit to the error in all their Raritan Valley Line schedules.
As the Mayor is so fond of saying: GROWTH BY UNITY ... IN INFORMATION!
NJT's version of reality differs from the Mayor's ... somewhat. |

Many times the NJ transit rail commute is MUCH longer than the solid hour shown on the schedule. Plus the run up/down stairs at Newark because the escalator isn't functioning. I only WISH we had a 35 minute commute. Maybe she can't face reality.....
Perhaps there is a secret Acela line...
Hype can take. I was once told on a clear day you could see England from the Jersey Shore by a friend ... so I can forgive the fish story selling of an area. BUT --- Taxes --- is a firm hard number no one can argue with.
I am sure these are not the only numbers being "fudged" by the Queen of the Queen City.
We can see that, once again, our mayor is not grounded in reality, didn't check her facts, and unlike many Plainfielders, doesn't have to bother with a long commute to put food on the table. She can't even get this correct, no wonder our books are in such a mess and the city is really tired of our tiring mayor.
35 minutes because when traveling by spaceship there usually isn't any spaceship traffic.
This is really pretty funny. The 7:39 NEVER has made it to Newark early enough to make the 8:22 connection, which means the best you can do is get the 8:27 and that on-time performance gets you to NY Penn either at or after 9:00. She's delusional if she thinks it takes 35 minutes.

Really Dan,
I sometimes wonder if you have personal motivitation for slamming the mayor as much as you do. Who really cares if it is 35 or 65 minute train ride to NY and what city does not glorify or embelish information.
There is a whole heck of a lot more going on plainfield worth printing about either good, bad or indifferent.

Jeanette, why are you reading HIS blog, buy the newspaper, I am sure they write about all the good things going on in Plainfield. It might even tell you what a wonderfully, awesome job our mayor is doing for the Queen City. You don't have to be aggravated with HIS blog musings. Now buy yourself a real newspaper, make a nice glass of wine and relax . Key word/point HIS BLOG.
To Jeanette Nesbitt
Really??? You're saying who cares??
This city is in the condition it is, because of our bright mayor and her supporters. I have a friend who just moved to plainfield and will be commuting to NY everyday. IM GLAD SHE DIDNT GO TO OUR CITY'S WEBSITE TO FAMILIARIZE HERSELF WITH THE CITY.
Common Plainfield this is not a big deal, it can be a ploy to get people from NYC to move to our City. To say we are 35 minutes away so its easy for commuters.
Stop the nickpicking.
Jeanette,
As a commuter every day to the city, I and every other commuter on the train cares if it is 35 or 65 or 95 minutes. You are the typical Plainfielder who does not care which way the wind blows and is happy with status quo, no matter how corrupt or wrong it is. There is a heck of a lot more going on in the city and it would be nice if just once, politics would take care of it instead of just dishing out more of the same old crap! You are not in politics to be liked, you are here to accomplish something. What has she done besides cause grief and embarrasment?? She is a nice person, just not a good Mayor. And I assure you, she will be voted back in again for a 3rd term. Status quo and all...
You'll soon care about the train delays when you are unemployed from a salary job and are now working at an HOURLY rate. The last train trip I took cost me $36.00. Because of the delay I lost an hours work. A few delays like that and I can't pay a bill.
To see simple errors on any website means that site hired the wrong webmaster!
Ms. Nesbitt is the majority and why this City doesn't stand a snow balls chance...I suppose when Ms. Nesbitt's tax bill comes containing an error she'll just pay it -- afterall what's a couple of numbers off here and there. What an attitude! I can only imagine how she keeps her personal checkbook.
11:59 My third grade teacher just rolled over in her grave...love the "common"...perhaps you meant "come on". Also love your grasp of logic. Lets dupe folks to move here -- it is much easier than making Plainfield a place folks want to be (regardless of the commute).
Dan: while I enjoyed this post and understood its logic, I will also acknowledge the value of Ms. Nesbitt's honesty in using her name. She's a partisan; you're a partisan; so am I. She, you and I step forward and sign comments.
And once again I will stand with the city's webmaster - he's doing his best in an impossible situation. If your kids' college fees depended on your paycheck, would you piss off the boss?
Just shows the City is not good woith any kind of numbers, be it budget, length of terms of board appointments, calendar dates, train schedules and more.
I can just imagine what the Mayors bathroom scale reads.
