The Parade is always a treat for all ages. |
Plainfield's 2012 Independence Day celebrations take place today.
Billed as 'Returning Heroes Day', the 89th annual celebration's activities highlight recent veterans of military service.
The parade along Front Street, whose staging area has evidently been somewhat expanded, steps off at 10:00 AM and will be broadcast live on Plainfield's internet radio station www.bksradio1.com/.
The day continues with a car and bike show in Cedar Brook Park at 1:30 PM organized by Jabbar Jones.
And the festivities are brought to a close with a concert in Cedar Brook Park getting under way at 5:30 PM featuring a dozen groups and individual artists, with fireworks at dusk. Plainfield's fireworks are not expected to all go off in one fell swoop.
