Annie McWilliams hosts meeting on crime this afternoon

Today's meeting is at Councilor McWilliams' home, 1341 Prospect Avenue.

Plainfield City Council President Annie McWilliams has called a public meeting on a 'recent rash of burglaries' for this afternoon, to which all residents are invited.

The meeting is from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at President McWilliams' home, 1341 Prospect Avenue (between Hillside and Woodland).

Public Safety Director Martin Hellwig and members of the Plainfield Police Division will be available to answer questions and give an overview of how the Division is dealing with the incidents.

Residents getting the Hillside Area Neighborhood Watch alerts and a Van Wyck Brooks HD email chain have been apprised in recent weeks of a string of burglaries and breakins -- of cars, garages and homes -- that seems out of the ordinary.

This is an opportunity to bring your concerns and specific neighborhood issues to the attention of the Police Division if you have not already done so.
