The obituary of a Plainfield resident who passed away at a tragically young age on December 20 (see here), stated that she died at 'Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center'. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the young woman, but her passing at Muhlenberg raises questions.
An email from Muhlenberg activist and former mayoral candidate Deborah Dowe noted the obituary and questioned why this young woman died at the SED (Satellite Emergency Department), how she got there, and whether enough has been done by Solaris to inform the Plainfield community of the current limits of treatment provided at the Muhlenberg campus.
According to the new world order established by Solaris' closing of Muhlenberg, no one is supposed to be born or die at Muhlenberg in Plainfield any more.
I'll be taking a further look in the New Year at Solaris' self-reporting to the state on care, outcomes and patient satisfaction, as well as the Citizens Advisory Group assembled by Assemblyman Jerry Green and Mayor Robinson-Briggs from which we have yet to hear anything substantive.

You and all of us included heard exactly what we were meant to hear from Jerry's "Action Committee" . NOTHING.
We had the unfortunate opportunity to go there one recent evening after a car accident. Injuries were very minor, but just to be sure. They literally did nothing! They were more concerned about collecting insurance information than actually doing any kind of medical treatment. They took blood pressure and asked if any pain. Thats it. We will never step foot in there again! And to think, it used to be the best hospital in the area at one point. Its a damn shame and a disgrace! And I wont go to JFK either just in principle!
Having been born at Muhlenberg and having my childern born there it is so sad to see these kind of stories. My wife worked there for 27 years and her co-workers were so dedicated and caring. Muhlenberg's closing helped us to escape from NJ and we are now loving our life in NC. Thoughts and prayers are with the people losing out thanks to Corzine and Solaris.
I was in an auto accident a few months ago and was ambulanced to MRMC emergency room. I was treated with great care, given tests, xrays and TLC. There was no wait since there were very few patients. The doctor was exemplary.
People die. And believe me, I agree that MRMC should NEVER have been shut down, and should be reopened post haste. However, the fact that she was in the hospital is a pretty good indication that there was something wrong.
