Dan's blogs and the Mayoral Race: 1 for, 1 not

Plainfield Today, where Dan is partisan.

CLIPS, where he is not.

Plainfielders are passionate about their city and its politics.

And they like to know what's what and who's who.

As we enter the primary campaign season, with the mayor's slot among those up in the June 2 election, blog readers want clarity and full disclosure. Fair enough.

Here it is: Of Dan's two daily blogs, one will be partisan, one will not.

On Plainfield Today, I am endorsing, supporting and rallying for Adrian Mapp to be the Democratic nominee for mayor.

CLIPS is another kettle of fish entirely. It is a nonpartisan blog run as a service to the entire community, posting links to essential online news of interest to its readers. Links. To online news. Got it?

The other bloggers to whom CLIPS links are totally independent. They have their own views, political or not, and they alone are responsible for them. They do not 'work' for Dan or have anything to do with what Dan says or does with Plainfield Today. The links are there for the convenience of readers and no other purpose. Got it?

The 'What's Happening' calendar is also strictly for the community. Anyone's events will be publicized, providing only that they are open to the public.

To be more explicit: any declared candidate in this primary season is free to submit their events to the calendar and they will be posted. Fair enough?

This also holds true for candidate blogs and other Web presences. Submit me a link (email me here) and I will put it on a campaign blogroll. The only requirement is that the link must be submitted by the candidate themself. No anonymous blogs. Fair enough?

For ease of reference, this statement will appear at the top of the right-hand sidebar of each blog for the duration. Fair enough?

And now, ludi incipiant.

Really? We are all totally surprised!

I am, too, 7:38.

You would think after all this time it would be no mystery, but some readers evidently have trouble getting their arms around the idea that Dan might be...

... P A R T I S A N ?

Say it ain't so, Joe.

Dan, How is Adrian Mapp any different from what we have now in Sharon Robinson-Briggs..his idea for turning a quasi-governmental authority into a full governmental authority does not instill great confidence....I've never known a government agency to do anything better or cheaper..do you? The fact that Adrian's "BIG" idea for the PMUA didn't even consider privatization tells me all I need to know..

To Rob:

ABS!

Brilliant.

Except what to do about those who think ABS refers to anti-locking brake systems?

I wonder what 'services' you want 'privatized'.

Often people only think of their personal garbage and recycle pickups.

But the PMUA has far greater responsibilities than just those.

Would 'privatizing' the sewer system mean having it owned and run by the foreign company that now supplies our water (and now misleadingly labeled as 'NJ American Water')? -- Remember the days when the principal of E'town Water actually showed up at Plainfield events?

Meaning prices could be set and services shut down from, say, London?

Hmmmmm.....

Perhaps you should post your comment on Mapp's campaign blog and get his point of view.

The PMUA recation reminds me of McCain parachuting in to save the day last fall.

Maybe Mapp will also suspend his campaign?

Please don't give me any Rush Limbaugh rhetoric like the government has never done anything right. Would you be willing to give up Medicare? Or Medicaid?

The nonsense that we continually hear from the far right is that we can't allow government to do anything, yet everything we see these days tells us that too much of a free market has been more damaging than anything the government has done.

I support Mr. Mapp's plan to dismantle PMUA whether it becomes a private function or a city function. At this time it is an entity beyond anyone's control.
