Davis acquitted in DWI

Justice has been wrought.

Councilor Don Davis, as reported in today's Ledger, Courier and by Bernice at the Plaintalker, has been acquitted of the March, 2007 DWI charge (see links at end of story).

Did the long-unresolved charge affect the outcome in the June 3 Democratic primary?

Hard to tell, but I certainly got an earful from residents about the fact that the case went unresolved for so long.

In fact, Davis and I discussed the postponement way back in May. At the time, I suggested that the electorate was really quite resilient about matters that were IN THE PAST, and that if the charge had been resolved earlier, all the whispering during the primary might never have taken place, with a possibility that his race would have been won.

I coulda been right. I coulda been wrong.

And Councilor Davis mighta been looking at a second term.

We'll never know.
