The Plainfield Democratic City Committee will meet tomorrow (Friday) evening at 7:30 PM at the YWCA, East Front and Church Streets, to select City Council candidates for the June party primary election. Visitors are welcome.
Committee members received the notices in the mail on Tuesday, April 1 (it was NOT an April Fool's prank). According to City Committee bylaws, members are to receive written notice of meetings five days in advance of the meeting. The rules will be honored in the breach.
Regular Council seats up this year are citywide at-large (Harold Gibson) and Ward 3 (Don Davis).
Additionally, William Reid, appointed to fill the vacancy created by Rayland Van Blake's resignation to take a Union County Freeholder seat, must be placed on the primary ballot to stand for election in November for the remainder of Van Blake's unexpired term.
