Twenty. Exactly twenty.
That's the difference in total delegates won by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in yesterday's Super Tuesday primaries.
According to the interactive graphic on the Washington Post website (see here), Obama notched 562 delegates last night to Hillary's 582 -- not shabby at all.
And New Mexico has yet to be counted in -- their election officials gave up in exhaustion last night with a difference of just 79 votes separating the two Dems. We'll get more on that as the day goes on.
When you add in the previous wins and the 'superdelegates' committed to each, the total stands at 845 for Hillary and 765 for Obama.
This is hardly the outcome the Clinton campaign expected over the last few months when Hillary's lead ran in the 30-35% range.
If you want to see county-by-county tallies nationwide, check out the NYTimes excellent interactive maps here: "Dems" and "GOP".
For my money, today's Los Angeles Times headline sums it up best: "With no losers, the fight goes on"
- LATimes: "With no losers, the fight goes on"
