Water main work closes Rahway Road

The busy intersection will be knocked out for 2-3 days
for water main repair work.

Plainfield drivers accustomed to using Rahway Road as a shortcut to Inman Avenue and North Edison should make alternate plans for a couple of days.

Scotch Plains township sent a notice around last week that it intended to close the intersection of Rahway Road and Raritan Road for water main repairs for up to three days, beginning after the Thanksgiving holiday.

While residents in the area will be allowed in and out of their homes, no traffic will be allowed across the intersection.

This means you would be well-advised to make alternate plans if you regularly use Rahway Road.

There are no shortcuts if you get stuck in the area.

If you come from Plainfield, you will have to travel east on Cooper Road to Terrill and then figure out what to do. The alternative route would be to use Woodland Avenue to Raritan Road to Inman Avenue.

No matter which way you have to go, I'll bet you will appreciate the shortcut even more once the water main is fixed and traffic resumes its normal flow.
