First Ward meet-and-greet Thursday at Richmond Towers

Councilor Davis hosts a First Ward meet-and-greet
Thursday evening at Richmond Towers.

Continuing her message of proactive community outreach, First Ward Councilor Ashley Davis is hosting a First Ward Meet-and-Greet this Thursday (April 25) at Richmond Towers. All First Ward residents are cordially invited.

This will be an opportunity for First Ward residents to hear a report from Councilor Davis on her activities since she was sworn into the City Council in January.

And to discuss matters of interest and concern to the residents.

In her short time on the City Council, Davis has already been given the chairmanship of an important committee (Police) and sits on the Green Brook Flood Control Commission, which is so important to the First Ward which has so many flood-related issues (including flooding and mandatory flood insurance).

In addition, she is a liaison to Union County's revenue-sharing committee and to the Plainfield Municipal Utility Authority (PMUA).

That's an impressive list of oversight areas -- all important to First Ward residents.

The event runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the community room of Richmond Towers.

In addition, there will be a demonstration of the new voting machines that will be in use in June.

After years of criticism of the security and reliability of the voting machines in use in Union County, the state has finally begun to examine betters systems.

You will want to come out and check out this new machine, how it differs from the current ones, and to operate it.

Richmond Towers is at 510-520 East Front Street (corner of Richmond Street). Light refreshments will be served. Parking on the street.
