Low-key Council session Tuesday?

Crossing Guard raises a discussion topic.

Will Plainfield City Council's agenda-setting session on Tuesday be low key?

For the past year and a half, most of the drama at the agenda sessions has come around the so-called "discussion" items, so that is the first place to look for clues.

Tuesday's includes four items --
  • The proposed City Council newsletter;

  • Outside counsel;

  • Crossing guards and

  • Ward Town Hall meetings.
Unless the councilors fight among themselves, the newsletter should be a simple, cut-and-dried discussion.

The outside counsel matter might refer to Council's earlier wish to investigate the North Avenue demolition this past March which forced Mi Buenaventura restaurant to relocate. Will they go forward at this late date (after all, it's been six months) or just drop the matter?

Crossing guards have been pressing for a raise, and the Mapp administration said they were being taken care of. Is there an issue?

Traditionally, the Council holds its separate town halls in each ward much earlier in the year. This year, it seems to have slipped everyone's mind. Now it appears they will be squished into the busy Fall season.

No drama here, right?
