Political signs: A fine idea

Plainfield streets were bombarded with campaign signs.

Plainfielders who get annoyed at how long it takes for political signs to disappear after an election (even if taxpayer money is spent picking many of them up) may wish they had an elected representative like Montclair Assemblyman Thomas Giblin.

Giblin has offered to make a donation to charity for every sign that residents return to a trash bin outside his office.

Eva's Village, a nonprofit that works to shelter and feed the homeless and hungry, will get 10¢ per sign, according to a story in the Ledger (see here).

A thoughtful and helpful solution to a perennial problem.

Maybe someone will take it up in Plainfield some day.

: I CHUCKLE AT THE THOUGHT OF JERRY DOING THIS...not because it wouldn't be nice, but because I am sure it is WELL beyond the depths of caring for something as simple as Political Garbage when it doesn't include an appointment of someone connected by his higher ups. I welcome being shocked mind you, I just don't see it happening. Again, shock me. That would be nice. And I am sure Assistant Mayor Sharon hasn't noticed any signs but hers, and we know she doesn't want those taken down, even after the election.

Jerry Green has stated many times that he does not do any labor because,he has people for that! Someone said that the men from the PMUA and Public Works pick up the signs for him.I guess if he gives you a job you have to pay him back somehow!Gerry Green does not care if he litters Plainfield with signs. He does what he wants when he wants even if it makes Plainfield look bad.

Great idea. As an aside, Eva's Village is a great charity and I encourage all to donate. Lilas Borsa

Let's charge Gerry and Sharon a dollar a day for each sign that doesn't get picked up. I'm talking about any sign with their name on it. With the money they've stolen from the coffers, they can afford it. A state audit is coming and from a Republican governor's office.
