Would Bramnick candidacy spoil Plainfield for Corzine?

Plainfield native Jon Bramnick, GOP whip for the NJ Assembly, is being considered for the lieutenant governor slot by Republican candidate Chris Christie, according to a report on PolitickerNJ, the state's go-to news site for political junkies (see story here).

The moderate, pro-life Assemblyman also founded a progressive policy committee for Assembly Republicans, and has said 'the minute you preach morality, you're done'.

Those are sentiments that would strike home among many voters in Plainfield -- Republican, Democrat or unaffiliated. And that should worry the Corzine camp.

Still a widely popular figure among Plainfielders, Bramnick is remembered for bringing his keen mind and sense of humor to bear in his years as a City Council member, as well as for his civic activism and engagement with Plainfield's social and cultural life. (Jenn -- he once lived in YOUR house.)

With half Plainfield's registered voters unaffiliated with either major political party, Christie's running Bramnick in the lieutenant governor slot would certainly mix things up in the Queen City.

The Governor is certainly living in interesting times.

Bramnick is a good guy who will focus on the working class. He was good for Plainfield and he's moderate. I say that as a lifelong Democrat so I hope I won't be tarred and feathered for giving my honest opinion. Corzine let us down.

Finally Plainfield will see democracy in action. Both parties will have to work for our vote, instead of taking it for granted. There is still alot of low level talk from people who will vote for corzine, then vote for the republican for mayor. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Sharon doesn't seem to have it in the bag yet. Low voter turnout may not only her corzine, but sharon as well.

Dan,
NJ would be lucky to have Assemblyman Jon Bramnick as its lieutenant governor. Jon brings integrity and business where-with-all to State politics-something that is now missing.
