Sleeping cop pleads guilty

Capt. Paul Messina, snoozing, gunbelt unsecured.

Plainfield merchants eager for downtown surveillance cameras may find this story interesting.

Trenton police captain Paul Messina has pled guilty to sleeping on the job while assigned to monitoring security cameras, according to the Times of Trenton. Pictures have been posted online at captsleepy.com, presumably by fellow cops who seem not to want Messina as their next police leader. His 2003 infraction was caught on video and posted on Youtube.

Was he bored or was he 'cooping'?

I think watching security cams would be the MOST boring job I could imagine. For me, anyway.

That's not saying camwatching is not important.

The British seem to do it very successfully.

Wonder how.
