Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman will be the guest of honor at an event Wednesday (June 1) being hosted by Plainfield Mayor Adrian O. Mapp and First Lady Amelia Mapp.
The host committee includes Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr; Scotch Plains Mayor Kevin Glover; Freeholders Linda Carter, Bette Jane Kowalski and Sergio Granados; and Chief of Staff John Stewart.
Mapp gave a big boost to the political fortunes of Watson Coleman when, as Plainfield's mayor, he was the first in Union County to endorse her for the 12th Congressional District seat that became open when Rush Holt chose not to run again.
Watson Coleman has close ties to Plainfield, where her husband Bill served as interim pastor at First-Park Baptist Church a few years ago.
The event is from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Mapp home, St. George Manor, at 535 West 8th Street.
Suggested contributions range from $100/individual to a maximum of $2,700 and may be made online here.
There are whispers that a mystery special guest will make an appearance -- but you didn't hear it from me.
