Plainfield will witness dueling meetings on Monday evening called by Mayor Adrian Mapp and Assemblyman Jerry Green.
Mapp has called a special Council meeting to deal with a single item: the amendment of the PILOT for Liberty Village. The PILOT has been the subject of contention in recent weeks, with the Council asserting the administration was rushing the process and the Administration countering that the Council would not put its objections in writing. The whole was complicated with the revelation that Council President Bridget Rivers had been involved in the PILOT discussions very early on.
Meanwhile Assemblyman Green, Plainfield's own Phineas T. Bluster, seems to have twisted the arm of Rep. Rush Holt to hold a Town Meeting at the Plainfield Public Library, with Green presiding. One has to wonder what topics will come up.
Both meetings are set for 7:00 PM.
To complicate matters further, City Council is expected to hear the report of the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee and take up its own amendments to the Administration's proposed budget.
All this, plus a regular agenda-setting session.
Bring a sleeping bag and fasten your safety belts, to mix a metaphor.
