Community meeting on Superintendent search tonight

As Plainfield's Board of Education moves ahead in the search for a new Superintendent, a meeting is set for tonight for community input into the search process.

The meeting, which only appeared on the District's website Monday, is being convened by the NJ School Boards Association, which the District hired to conduct the search process.

This is billed as a 'critical issues input session', where the community can discuss matters that would help set criteria for the background, training and necessary experience for a successful candidate.

Ms. Gwen Thomas, the search consultant, will explain the search procedure, the timeline, and the roles played by the Board, the public and the staff in the process.

Discussion will center on the District's strengths and on-going issues, as well as concerns and plans for future initiatives which will face a new Superintendent.

Your input is needed and will be valuable in helping set the parameters of the search documents as well as interview questions for prospective candidates.

This wasn't well-advertised. Why didn't they send out a press release to let the public know?
