Veterans Day observance this morning

Principal Veterans Day ceremonies will take place at the monument on City Hall grounds.
Plainfield's Veterans Day observance begins with a parade set to step off from Police Headquarters at Watchung Avenue and East 4th Stret at 9:30 AM.

The parade, which besides veterans will include the Plainfield High School Marching Band, the Police Division honor guard, the
Plainfield High School ROTC and others, will make its way to the War Memorial at Watchung Avenue and East 7th Street where a wreath will be placed at 10:15 AM.

Following that traditional ceremony, the parade will move to the Memorial on the grounds of City Hall, where ceremonies in remembrance of Veterans Day are to begin at 10:55 AM.

Throughout the country (and in many other countries, which celebrate the day as Remembrance Day), silence will be kept as the original proclamation of the Armistice of World War I read, 'at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month'.

To all who served and are serving to make this country great, and to allow me to have my freedoms, there are no words to express the gratefulness we extend to you and your families. It is because of you that America is great.
