Donated bikes will be refurbished as Holiday presents. |
Once again, Plainfield's Dairy Queen becomes the scene of intense activity as the Holiday season approaches -- it's the annual bike drive.
Donna Alabanese and her husband Rich are collecting donations of used bicycles -- of all ages, styles and conditions -- which Rich will refurbish to be given as presents to area youngsters during the Holiday season.
The goal of the bike program is simple: to provide a holiday experience for kids who would not necessarily have one otherwise. Bikes are the number one requested present and Donna and Rich hope to be able to provide 100 bicycles this year.
Drop off your bike (in any condition -- including new) at the Dairy Queen, 1357 South Avenue. Rich will transform your used bike into a sparkling gift for a Plainfield youngster.
Contributions are also welcome to buy helmets to accompany the gift of the bike. For more information, call Donna Albanese at the Dairy Queen, (908) 755-5994.
