3 PM: VICKI GRISWOLD: MUSIC AT THE MANSION
The Fleetwood Museum and Friends of Vermeule Mansion present a FREE concert by pianist, Victoria Griswold. Vicki, as she is known to her friends and customers at the Plainfield Music Shop, will perform a concert of piano music by women composers.4 PM: SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH HOSTS NORFOLK STATE U CHOIRS
Victoria Griswold is a classical pianist who has concertized in Europe, Brazil and throughout the New York metropolitan area. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music. Her credits include recordings with the Warsaw Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
This is the fifth in the series Music at the Mansion held in the restored twenty-six room Vermeule Mansion, at 614 Greenbrook Road, North Plainfield. Light refreshments will follow.
The critically acclaimed 85-voice Norfolk State University Choir of Norfolk, VA, directed by Dr. Carl Haywood will be the featured guest for this wonderful concert. The choir is an ensemble of both male and female voices performing the concert repertoire of all periods. All are invited to attend. A free-will offering will be received. The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart presents one of the metro area's outstanding concert series.
Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is featured in a program this afternoon that also includes works by York, Eilers, Goodall, Haan and Dvorak. The concerts are free, with a free-will offering being taken.
Sacred Heart is a splendid building with great acoustics and magnificent stained glass windows. If you have never visited, you owe it to yourself to check out one of these concerts.
