Sic transit gloria Gallon

Superintendent no more.

At 10:50 PM, Plainfield's Board of Ed members filed slowly into the high school auditorium and took their places. Superintendent Steve Gallon III was not among them.

Was he gone? Had the deed been done at last?

After the public waited nearly three hours past the public meeting's posted start time and the crowd had dwindled by two thirds, the meeting itself seemed anticlimactic.

All were present, save for Brenda Gilbert, who had had to leave directly from the executive session.

After the briefest of preliminaries, two resolutions were taken up --
  1. A resolution making Board Secretary Gary Ottman acting superintendent of schools through the end of the meeting; and

  2. A resolution naming Anna Belin Pyles acting superintendent of schools, effective May 12.
Both passed unanimously, without discussion.

Sic transit gloria Gallon.

101.5 FM's Dave Matthau, who stayed to the bitter end, posted a report online (see here), and the Courier posted a brief dispatch online (see here).
