Councilor Rivers is now the only person involved who has not apologized to El-Amin. |
At Monday's City Council reorganization, retired Plainfield police captain Siddeeq El-Amin once again tried to get closure on the matter of an "investigation" of his character called for when the Council declined to accept his nomination to be Mayor Adrian Mapp's Public Safety Director when Mapp first took office.
Standing again at the mike during public comment, El-Amin reiterated that he would accept an apology from the remaining Council members who had been involved -- Councilors Storch, Taylor and Rivers -- then consider the matter closed.
Both Storch and Taylor apologized on the spot, joining Councilors Williams and Taylor who had apologized in December (see here).
Councilor Bridget Rivers -- who as Council President had originally said an RFP was issued to hire an attorney to pursue such an investigation -- remained silent and stone-faced throughout the exchange.
She remains the only Councilor involved and still on the Council not to have apologized.
