In Plainfield, man and beast alike toil in the hot summer sun to make the world go 'round.
'Beast' may be a stretch, but the bee above gathering nectar from a Bloodroot, or Scarlet Asclepias, in the Shakespeare Garden at Cedar Brook Park caught my eye. The plant is a gussied-up version of the milkweed commonly seen along country roads and in open fields.
With the help of a rail-riding crane, workers place a heavy metal plate as part of the ongoing reconstruction of New Jersey Transit's Plainfield rail crossings. The work shown here is at the Madison Avenue crossing, after which the crane moved west to the Central Avenue overpass. Reconstruction of the overpasses is scheduled to be finished in 2009.
The bee did not appear to break a sweat; can't say the same for the NJT workers.

Since the city website is down I would like to make 2 comments:
1- On Jerry Green's blog, he left out Cory Storch's name as part of the council who will help with Muhlenberg's crisis. Is this intentional? If so, why?
2- Plainfiled City web site is not working to send emails. I think National night out was great but as a taxpayer - I would appreciate if the peopel in charge (whose salary I help pay) would put ALL information in an area that all the citizens can see - for example on the city web site. I would like to have known that there was a movie, and hot dogs and hamburgers which, yes, I helped pay for and participated.
Who was in charge of the PR and getting it on the site? All of whom I help pay for.
