Fix the damn website, willya!

As we enter the sixth month since the City's website has seen an update, PT begins to suspect there is an absolute lack of intellligent design at the heart of this mess.

The whole imbroglio could be corrected quick as you can snap your fingers.

Yup.

Normally, PT or another consultant would charge at least $75 an hour for this advice. But only with a contract. And since this Administration doesn't believe in using contracts to get work done, we'll just give out the info for free.

  • REGAIN control of the site. Believe it or not, the Mayor is the administrative contact. She can retrieve the logon and password.

  • Get a NEW HOST. Change the DNS entries.

  • RETRIEVE a copy of the website from the consultant who put it together. (The City DID remember to get that as a WORK FOR HIRE, right?)

  • POST the refreshed site and you're back in business.
With, of course, the lame site that was put up in the first place, and the lame content.

But, hey, at least it's a website. And we can move on from the major embarrassment of NOT having a website to the less major embarrassment of just having a LAME ONE.

Oy vey!

P.S. The Newark website has Mayor Cory Booker's State of the City address online THE DAY OF.

The City should take John DiPane up on his offer to help get everything working again. He was an apolitical employee and should not be on anyone's blackball list. He certainly has the skill set to get it done, and for a lot less than what they've reportedly spent already.
