Mayor Mapp places Gleason daughter's letter to Councilor Taylor on agenda

Plainfield Police Officer John V. Gleason
was killed in the line of duty in
the 1967 Plainfield riot.

Mayor Adrian O. Mapp has asked Municipal Clerk 'AJ' Jalloh to place on the agenda as correspondence from the mayor a letter from Ann Marie Gleason, eldest daughter of police officer John V. Gleason, who was killed during the Plainfield riot of 1967.

Ms. Gleason addressed the letter (see here) to Councilor Gloria Taylor after learning of Taylor's remarks at the March special business meeting. The letter was copied to other councilors and the mayor.

Mayor Mapp noted that the letter refers to "a matter currently under discussion by the Governing Body" and asks that it be filed in the Clerk's office (making it a public record) and added to the agenda as an information item from the Mayor. More information on Officer Gleason can be found at the Officer Down Memorial Page here.

It certainly makes for interesting reading. I hope you check it out.
