Plainfield's National Night Out celebration tomorrow

Mayor Adrian Mapp chats with a resident at the 2014
National Night Out, his first as mayor.

Plainfield's National Night Out celebration gets under way tomorrow (August 4) at 7:00 PM at City Hall Plaza.

As I reckon it, this is the twny-ninth annual celebration. First Ward Councilwoman Liz Urquhart took up the project in 1986, I believe.

This year, Mayor Adrian Mapp will recognize the contributions of our neighborhood and block associations to crime-fighting and community-building efforts across the city.

The Police and Fire Divisions will be on hand, providing safety demonstrations. And of course many city organizations will have information tables.

Free food and live music top off the evening, which is always especially popular with youngsters.

City Hall is at Watchung Avenue and East 6th Street. Note that Watchung Avenue will be closed to traffic between 5th and 7th for the event.
