Joint boards meeting Saturday reviews development activity

A lot is developing in Plainfield.

Four of Plainfield's boards that most directly impact taxpayers will have a joint meeting on Saturday to which the public is warmly invited.

The Planning Board, the Board of Adjustment (Zoning), the Historic Preservation Commission and the Shade Tree Commission will hold a joint meeting at City Hall Library from 10:00 AM to Noon.

This informal meeting, at the initiative of Planning Board chair Ron Scott Bey, will give an opportunity for members of the boards and the public to get an overview of the development and redevelopment activity going on at the moment in Plainfield.

After having been stalled for years, there has been a flood of activity unleashed since Mayor Adrian Mapp took office a year ago. Though it is concentrated in the downtown and South Avenue areas, there is interest throughout the city.

If you are inured of evening meetings and the nitty-gritty details, this meeting will give you a convenient overview. Public participation is welcome and there will be opportunity for questions and comments.

Don't dawdle, though. The Library is not that large a room and it will be half-filled with commissioners.

Parking and entry from the City Hall parking lot.
