Historic QC 5K Walk/Run; Fire Prevention Fair Saturday

Saturday features two exciting Plainfield events: the third annual Historic Queen City 5K Walk/Run and the Fire Division's annual Fire Prevention Fair.

Historic Queen City Walk/Run

This popular event begins with on-site registration at City Hall at 8:30 AM on Saturday, with the activities getting under way at 9:00 AM. This year's event includes a special memorial tribute to Plainfield's own Olympic Gold Medal Decathlete Milt Campbell.

The event includes a certified 5K route, a 1-mile Fun Run and a Lollipop Run, according to event organizer Darryl Clark. The event concludes at City Hall plaza with an awards ceremony and entertainment.

Fees on the day of the event are: $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1-mail Fun Run. More information is available on the Plainfield Walk/Run website here.

Proceeds will benefit youth and senior citizen programs.
Fire Division's Fire Prevention Fair
The Fire Prevention Fair is a favorite of youngsters of all ages citywide. This year the fair will take place at the Plainfield Fire Division's headquarters at 315 Central Avenue.

Fun activities for youngsters include photo opportunities on a variety of fire and public safety vehicles, the fire safety training trailer, free fire helmets, and a visit from Sparky.

Children's car safety seats will also be inspected, courtesy of the Fire Division.

The Fair takes place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (rain date, Saturday, October 12).
