Deadline for entries in Library's 2011 photo contest nears

Escalator sign at former Macy's has come down to this.
Entries in the Plainfield Public Library's 6th annual photography contest are due Friday, September 30th -- a week from this Friday.

Amateur and professional photographers are welcome to submit up to five photographs of contemporary images of Plainfield places, activities and people.
This year's theme is 'Plainfield...On The Go!' Photos can depict motion, movement, mobility and/or transit -- broad interpretations of the theme are encouraged.

Complete submission rules and instructions can be found on the Library's website (here) or picked up at the Library, Park Avenue and West 8th Street. Entries must be received at the Library or postmarked no later than September 30th (Friday). You can download the entry form here (PDF).

In addition to cash prizes for winners in various categories, entries become part of the Library's permanent collection of photographs documenting
Plainfield daily life. Entries will be unveiled at an opening reception and on display through November and December.

The contest is made possible through the support of the Plainfield Cultural and Heritage Commission and the Friends of the Plainfield Public Library.

For more information, contact the Local History Department at (908) 757-1111 x 136, visit the Library's website here, download the entry form (PDF) here, or
email jeff.wassen@plfdpl.info.

Entries may be
sent to or dropped off at the Plainfield Public Library at 800 Park Avenue, corner of Park Avenue and West 8th Street.
